KNIGHTS-AT-ARMS OF THE 20th CENTURY
Thematic exhibition named “Knights-at-Arms of the 20th Century” draws a historical parallel between the individual means of armored protection of the Middle Ages and the armor suits of our days.
Visitors of the Museum can familiarize themselves with sallets (15th century) and armets (16th century) – prototypes of the steel helmets of the 20th century produced in Germany and many other countries. The Middle Ages are additionally represented by two-handed swords: flame-bladed battle swords and boar hunting swords.
The exhibition shows steel helmets of the 20th century from Italy, Germany (М 16, М 18,М 35, М 38), Soviet Union (SSh-36, SSh-40, SSh-68), Russian Federation (6B6), German Democratic Republic (М 56).
Steel shields and breastplates are less known to today’s youth. SN-42 steel breastplate of the Red Army is demonstrated at the exhibition.
The exhibition is on display on the first floor of the Museum. It is open until 30 June2019.
