ALL RUSSIA JUSTLY REMEMBERS THE BATTLE OF BORODINO
New thematic exhibition dedicated to the 190th anniversary of Leo Tolstoy and 150th anniversary of the first release of his “War and Peace” opened in the Museum. It demonstrates the historical comparison of the events on the Borodino battlefield in 1812 and 1941.
Visitors can familiarize themselves with the exhibits dedicated to the cuirassiers who had been somewhat similar to «tanks» on the battlefields of the XIX century. 18th, 19th and 20th Tank Brigades fought on Borodino field in the autumn of 1941 during the Battle of Moscow. Pictures of the cover and the title page of “War and Peace” released in Moscow in 1868 are the highlights of the exhibition. These unique exhibits were provided by the Russian State Library.
Exhibits include documents, photographs, copies of paintings, reference information, as well as models of armaments, uniforms and equipment.
The exhibition is on display until the end of 2018.
